Zakkat & Waqaf: Jigawa State Govt To Partner With AZAWON On Almajiri Welfare
The Jigawa State Government vows to Partner with Association Of Zakka and Waqaf Operators In Nigeria ( AZAWON) to chart a way forward on the future of Almajiri children in the state.
Governor Umar Namadi stated this when he received the Executives members of the Association of Zakkat and Waqaf Operators In Nigeria at the government House Dutse after the opening ceremony of the 3rd AZAWON National Conference held in Jigawa state (Saturday)
Governor Namadi, said Jigawa state government, has approved over N2.8 billion for the establishment of modern Tsangaya (Almajiri Schools) in the five emirate councils in the state.
He said The funds approved are part of the Better Education Service Delivery the programme
According to him the funds approved are part of the Better Education Service Delivery for programme.
The Governor noted that the schools will enrol at least 12,000 pupils when completed.
He said the state government has given much priority to tsangaya education as the cradle of knowledge in the region.
On the issue of Zakkat and Waqaf, Governor Namadi promised to work with AZAWON on how the government will help the less privileged people with Zakat and Waqaf across the state.
In his remark the National Chairman Of the Association of Zakkat and Waqaf Operators In Nigeria Malam Muhammad lawal Mai Doki ( Sadaukin Sokoto) has expressed concern over the Almajiri situation In Nigeria.
Mai Doki, noted that almajiri children have been facing a lot of challenges, lack of formal education, among others.
He therefore thanked the governor for hosting this year’s National Conference of AZAWON.
He said Association is while prepared to work the state government to discuss the way forward and solutions on the issues.
